In Indonesia, for example, forest fires often occur during the dry season, many triggered by the practice of burning land for agriculture. The impact of forest fires is very worrying. First, fires eliminate habitat for many animal and plant species, causing a decline in biodiversity. Especially in regions like the Amazon, where thousands of endemic species are threatened with extinction due to fires. Second, forest fires produce large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, which accelerate global warming. According to the IPCC report, emissions from forest fires account for up to 30% of total global emissions caused by humans. Preventing and handling forest fires requires international collaboration. Countries need to share monitoring technologies and early warning systems. Investment in research into ways to reduce the risk of forest fires is critical. Additionally, sustainable forest management must be implemented to ensure that the ecosystem remains protected. Local communities also have an important role in preventing forest fires. Education about the impacts of fire and environmentally friendly land management techniques can increase awareness. Programs that involve communities in the rehabilitation of burned areas can also provide long-term solutions. Reflecting on the experience of countries that have succeeded in reducing the incidence of forest fires, such as Sweden and Canada, the importance of strict regulations and community involvement cannot be ignored. They implement policies that limit land use and encourage better management of natural fuels. It is also important to realize that forest fires are not only an environmental problem, but also a social and economic one. When forests burn, many people lose their livelihoods, especially those who depend on forest products. This can trigger social unrest and increase migration patterns towards urban areas.
